Connect a Canon PIXMA TR4720 to a computer

Published by Alphatech · Updated October 11, 2026

Before connecting a PIXMA TR4720, decide whether you want USB or wireless printing. Follow one setup route at a time. A cable connection and a network connection create different printer entries on the computer.

Prepare the printer and computer

Complete the printer’s initial preparation and keep it powered on. Check the computer’s operating system and have your network details ready if you choose Wi-Fi. Obtain software through Canon’s TR4720 setup page.

Follow the selected connection method

Choose the appropriate device and connection in the official setup flow. For USB, use a suitable cable and connect it when the installer instructs you. For wireless setup, follow the model’s network instructions rather than a button sequence for another printer.

Test the intended connection

After installation, select the printer entry matching your setup and print a short document. If discovery fails, check whether the computer is on the intended network and whether a guest network prevents communication. Avoid resetting the printer while an installer is still running.

Keep the connection type and exact error ready if you need help. See our Canon driver checks for software problems and the support overview for device errors.
